Fishing Reports

Holyhead Breakwater 21.10.18

Had a dads and lads day on Holyhead Breakwater this Sunday. The wind and swell over at Ty Croes were far too dangerous.

We fished in the middle between the lighthouse on the end and the last bend. High water down to Low.

Our main targets were the Mini’s down the side to keep the kids entertained. Late September last year I couldn’t get any Mini’s on the breakwater but this turned into a busy session! Plenty of Corkwing and Ballan Wrasse, no other species came out to play. We did have a mad moment when a rod was nearly dragged in but it failed to connect?

The main rods were pretty quiet for most of the session with the odd doggy snaffling up the Mackerel and lug at distance. I had a nice thornback on Mackerel but didnt weigh it which is a first for me off the breakwater.

The wind was battering into the breakwater behind us keeping us wind free and surprisingly warm for the time of year.

Tight lines
