Morfa Nefyn

Stunning scenery and varied fishing, there literally is something for everyone. A small section with a sandy bottom, rocks and kelp everywhere else. There is a decent flat section to fish off, just be careful as it can be slippy. This area gives good and varied fishing with lots of different species to be had, there are also a few seals in the area at times. Try feathering for Mackerel here too, there are usually plenty around in summer. If you don’t pick any up you will usually get a few Pollack to this method.

Getting to the fishing mark is no easy feat if you plan on taking a lot of tackle. It is quite a walk through the golf course or across the beach at low tide. I stick with what I really need to save lugging it all the way, especially in summer when the sun is beaming. Please don’t let that put you off as there are lots of opportunities here for different fishing disciplines.

Lrf or bottom fishing plus feathering for Mackerel in a few spots works fine. If fishing the bottom I would use at least a 5 ounce gripper, the tide can pull in quite strong and drag you into the rocks and kelp. That said there are plenty fish in this area, use rotten bottoms if you have to, it will save on tackle losses and make the trip more enjoyable.

Parking is available on the golf course itself for £5 a day, or there is national trust car park on the right just before you head up the track to the car park (entrance is opposite the wooden cafe) fine if you plan on walking the beach way. Not much fun if you are walking up the hill to the golf course and back again, this extends the walk somewhat. There is a road to the end where the Ty Coch Inn is but it is for residents only and electronically gated.

I normally have the family in tow so have limited time at Morfa Nefyn, just next to the lifeboat station you can have fun with catching mini species by the little breakwater and the rocky outcrop to the rear of it.

Just on the inside of this mini breakwater you can handline for mini species, passes the time if fishing isnt your only reason for visiting.

Species: not exhaustive

Whiting, Codling, Mackerel, Dogfish, Bullhuss, Pollock, Corkwing, Ballan, Mini Species

There are a few spots to fish for the serious angler, there are some good size fish in this area too. Its a bit of a trek but definitely worth the walk, the scenery alone makes up for it.

The closest parking is the golf club car park at
