Cod Corner

Cod corner as its known is Mersey sea fishing venue,  it’s name comes from its reputation as a Cod fishing hotspot. The venue is on the Wirral side of the Mersey.

A lot of the Mersey spots are quite close together and this is no exception.
The Cod corner fishing mark is known as a great winter venue to target Mersey Cod. As a result it can get busy at times so arrive early to claim your spot. There is not much room here for more than a few anglers.

Fishing is onto rough ground with plenty of snags, it is literally a tackle graveyard. Yet it seems to produce the goods on a regular basis, the use of rotten bottoms are definitely recommended here. Literally all sorts of bits and bobs are in the water to snag onto. However there are also mussel beds close by and this is what the cod are looking to feed on, getting your bait among them will help produce here. Using a heavier gripper lead will prevent you being pulled into the snags.

The tide has one hell of a pull here which you can see surging against the ferry terminal.

If there is no room when you arrive then there are a few other venues close by.

Next to the U boat place, use the one across the road as this is locked in the evenings

There is parking close to the marks on the pay and display carpark indicated on the map below.
