Slipways

Porth Eirias Slipway

Porth Eirias Slipway is located at Colwyn bay where the old pier used to be.

Access to Porth Eirias slipway is quick and simple to find as it is just two minutes drive from the A55. There is parking for a good number of cars with extended bays on some for trailers. The car park does tend to fill up quick and is very popular 3 hours each side of high tide.

Right next to the car park is the slipway which is a good gradient for launching. There is also the added benefit of a tractor to help get out and bring your boat or jetski in. (At cost) The parking is also free too which is an added bonus.

A few hours either side of low water the tide recedes from the slipway a fair distance. You will need the tractor or a 4 wheel drive to retrieve or launch. Looking out to sea from the slipway, keep to the left hand side. The sand is firmer and more supporting of launching vehicles.

In late summer its a good place to catch Mackerel, heading West is into deeper water. I find this area has more species available to catch.

In order to use the slipway you must register your boat or jetski with Conwy Council. You may also use the slipway if registered with Anglesey Council. There are also no launch fee’s to pay for engines under 10hp.
